Christie’s said this week that the unmounted, oval-cut, 1.02-carat fancy-vivid-blue diamond fetched $534,800 during the November 26 sale, titled Jewels Online: The London Edit. This value was in the center of the presale appraisal range.

Cartier’s round brilliant-cut, 32.10-carat, S- to T-color, VS1-clarity diamond ring performed admirably as well. The work, which came from the collection of famed Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and his wife, singer Galina Vishnevskaya, sold for $401,000, exceeding its high estimate.

A Cartier Art Deco diamond bracelet sold for $183,838, much above its high estimate of $121,000. The gem came from Romana McEwen’s estate and had belonged to her mother, American heiress Ava Alice Muriel Astor.

According to the firm, bidders from 30 nations participated in the transaction.
