Swiss athletes with chances for a top ranking

With Anna Jurt and Lea Egloff, two Swiss athletes are at the start who can justifiably hope for a top spot in this championship. Anna Jurt became the U19 European Champion in 2018 at the age of 16 and took second place at the U24 European Championship in 2019. Lea Egloff also succeeded in this feat last November when she was crowned Vice European Champion U24 in Poland. Both athletes have good chances for a top ranking in front of their home crowd. They also have justified hopes of a starting place for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 and are stubbornly pursuing this goal. Behind these two athletes, under the careful guidance of Florence Dinichert, national coach of Pentathlon Suisse, an ambitious junior team has formed, from which a further final participation on Sunday can be expected. For the men it is above all Vital Müller, a former top swimmer who has also made great progress in the other disciplines in a short time. He has a good chance of getting a good place in the final on Saturday.

The diverse disciplines of modern pentathlon take place on the occasion of the Junior European Championship at various locations in Bern:

The swimming takes place in the indoor pool Wyler over a distance of 200 meters.

The fencing takes place in the multi-purpose hall of the barracks in Bern. Everyone fights against everyone.
