The luxury auction house Sotheby’s has opened a new retail location to showcase its fine collection of art, design, and luxury items. The Emporium, as part of the company’s expansion into online and offline shopping, is located in its New York flagship galleries. Over 5,000 authenticated luxury items, including fine art, haute jewelry, collectible sneakers, watches, designer handbags, decorative objects, furniture, and more, are currently on display and for sale.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen enormous growth and transformation within the luxury landscape, as evidenced by the success of online auctions and the response to our Buy Now e-commerce platform,” said Josh Pullan, Sotheby’s Head of Global Luxury Division. Our newest retail venture in New York, The Emporium, offers a diverse selection of luxury lifestyle goods and fine art that clients can view and purchase in person every day.”
The online marketplace, which offers a range of price points, is backed by the cachet of a brand known for its trusted expertise, connoisseurship, and authentication for more than 275 years, according to Sotheby’s. The Emporium, which combines the best of e-commerce convenience with the excitement of physical retail shopping, further establishes Sotheby’s as the preeminent luxury and fine art destination.
A rotating group of tastemakers and influencers will curate the online and physical marketplace, beginning with makeup and clean beauty connoisseur Gucci Westman. “I am overjoyed to be working with Sotheby’s on a luxury goods edit for The Emporium’s debut.
