In view of the unprecedented global crisis situation, Valais remains consciously creative and innovative in order to make the most of current opportunities and to respond quickly to changing customer needs if the situation normalizes. Guests can now book their stay in Valais from A to Z on a single online platform. The digital marketplace of Valais is unique in Switzerland.Customers can plan and book their stay in Valais with just a few clicks, from hotel accommodation to wine and gourmet experiences to ski passes and many other services. With the new digital marketplace, Valais / Wallis Promotion (VWP) is taking an important first step in the implementation of the 2021-2024 strategy. Another milestone is the joint promotion of several partners under the Wallis brand. The aim is to use synergies and jointly contribute to the positioning of a strong and internationally known Valais. These strategic measures are aimed at uniting the various Valais economic players and thus creating added value for the canton.

A digital platform that creates economic added value for the Valais.

With the creation of this new platform, Valais / Wallis Promotion is pursuing a clear goal, as its director Damian Constantin explains: “Our goal is to win new customers for Valais. We want to unite the tourism and economic players of the Valais behind this common vision in order to market the Valais together internationally and via the digital marketplace ». The platforms previously used by the partners will be coordinated and combined at cantonal level so that the operating costs can be reduced for each of them. «For us, the digital marketplace of Valais is an ideal solution. It offers our partners and their products a high level of visibility and allows us to significantly reduce our investments compared to our own digital marketplace. We also benefit from the synergies that result from the joint and intensified international promotion », explains Jasmine Ramondt-Fragnière, Director of Veysonnaz Tourism, with Nendaz-Veysonnaz, one of the 11 Valais destinations and companies that are already partners in this joint activation. The aim is to bring more partners on board so that the platform represents the Valais experience as completely as possible and meets the various customer expectations as well as possible.

Focus on customers who have little or no knowledge of Valais.

In August 2018, Valais / Wallis Promotion, together with Matterhorn Region AG (MRAG), took an important first step with the introduction of a marketplace for business customers in the travel industry (B2B), which markets, sells and sells Valais products and services in long-distance markets . “We set up this platform for tour operators so that they can make reservations in various destinations easily and centrally. With this new, customer-oriented digital marketplace, Valais / Wallis Promotion is taking another important step in close collaboration with MRAG to offer our guests the opportunity to buy Valais services directly online. With just a few clicks you can plan your stay in Valais and book it directly, for example an oenotouristic experience, an overnight stay in a hotel, a ski pass or a ski instructor, ”explains project manager Mathias Fleischmann, director of products and markets at Valais / Wallis Promotion. This digital marketplace was developed in collaboration with Alturos Destinations. Initial results show that the platform meets a real customer need. The main target group are Swiss people who do not live in Valais, who mainly book their holidays online, who know little or nothing about the region and who are planning a stay in Switzerland for the next 12 months. Through market research, Valais / Wallis Promotion has identified a potential of 1.5 million people who meet these criteria. The study also provides valuable information about favorite activities, media consumption and sociodemographic data of potential customers, to address them in a targeted and efficient manner. The digital platform encourages this new clientele to discover the Valais, its diverse destinations, products and experiences. The project budget for the creation of the digital marketplace is CHF 600,000, with the federal government making an important contribution of CHF 400,000 through the Innotour program of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), as it is also an extremely innovative one at the national level Project acts.
